Disco Elysium | Tips

Beginners Guide to Disco Elysium

Here are some tips that could help you during your time with Disco Elysium.

Wait...

Talking to the right person, wearing something, or having an item in your hands might increase your chances of completing a dialogue action. You may be able to walk away before attempting an action, come back later if the chances are too low or change your outfit.

Failing...

They say that when a door closes, a window opens. Failing in this game can result in another way forward, and sometimes with better results than completing the original quest.

Talk...

Exhaust the NPC's of their dialogue. Disco Elysium finds amazing ways to progress the story-line and side-quests. There's a chance you can get experience points or further quests by taking the conversation off topic.

Skill Points...

Hold onto a couple skill points as they can be used to increase a skill tied to an action you find in a dialogue, or to open a thought cabinet slot as you come across new thoughts.

The Clock...

Time passes when you interact with the world. If you don't do anything, time generally stays still. You can advance time by sitting on a bench or reading as well.

Hold Tab...

Don't forget to use tab to highlight interactive objects. Depending on whats in your hands new objects might appear for example holding a plastic bag highlights bottles you can now pick up. Experiment by holding different items.

Unethical pro tip...

Save as much as you want and try different things. Got a low percentage chance of being successful? Save right before trying it and load your save if you fail!
